Dear dear friends of mine!

First of all a big sorry for disapearing for soo long... I realize I havn't written on my blog since a very very long time, but a lot has happened during these last weeks: very beautiful things but very sad things as well.. let me explain it all!

My last weeks in Rome were incredible! I lived them very intensely since I knew I would be leaving soon! Alex and I made a list of all the things we wanted to do before leaving, but it resulted in list without an end!

First I quited school (2 weeks earlier then the academic year normally finishes)which was perfect to enjoy my last days in Rome! I left school with a nice result for my italian exam; so I felt quite good about myself! There is one other exam I took; but for this one they will only have the results in october; so don't worry and be happy!

In these two last week we did a lot of very nice things untill the moment my darling roommate alex had to leave (she left rome one week before me). Before our great goodbye-party; we, the 3 girls: alex, valentina and me, went out for a last very roman dinner. then the next day we organized a very very very biiiiig goodbye-party at our home (that was the 3th of juin)... how much fun we had!!!! but it was also very hard at the end to say goodbye because we all realized it would be the last time that we would be all together.. and nobody knew when, and if, we would ever see eachother again.. It was very hard and sad, really... So, after our big party, after sleeping only few hours, the moment that alex really left OUR room and OUR appartment was extremely hard! we had lived and shared our room for over 5 months! (Alex, you we're the best!) I can tell you; a lot of tears has been cried...

That same day that alex left, I also moved out of our nice roman appartment and went to live for my last week at manuels house.. Eventhough it was a measure of emergency (since two new students had taken my room to rent it for the summer), I was very happy with that change! We did a lot of things together, like going to a jazz concert, going out for a tour with the bikes etc.. Still, everyday was a day closer to leaving rome!

2 days before leaving; I was invited to go to a big goodbye-party at our school! So I went to see everybody again which was soo nice! I really made very good friends over there, that I know now! We had pasta togehter; drunk another glass of good italian red wine, switched adresses, etc.. Manuel had come to join us as well a bit later, so on the really last moment he entered my school, that I had frequented since october! Before going to one of the fanciest clubs in Rome (Art café), I already had to say goodbye of my dear mates: Kanako and Zsofia, who didn't join us anymore to the party.. so again, tears came up!
Then, in a group of 30 people we went to art cafe, where we entered for free thanks to the great network of Robson, a nice brasilian boy of our school! We danced in open air for the last time, looked at the show of the professional dancers, had a drink, untill 5am.. then I just could't move me anymore cuz I was sooo tired! I said goodbye to all my darlings of the school; and manuel and i left for his home..

The last day we went together for a tour in the park of Villa Pamphilji which is beautiful, and then in the evening Manuel had prepared a whole dinner for me as a suprise! So; it was just the two of us, drinking a glass of wine, eating his self-made menu, and .. opening the little presents we had bought for one another! I made him a very big collage with all kinds of pictures of us, but with a lot of articles and newspapers pictures of things we had done together! I can tell you, He was quite overwhelmed by my present.. I on the other hand received a book thicker then the bible, all italian; of his favorite writer.. On the first page he had written something really really sweet, so there we were, Me and him, both very moved and overwhelmed of the story we had togehter in Rome...

The next day Valentina and Federico came to pick us up with the car and drove me to the airport, where I left in the evening for Nice! I'll never forget to moment I had to go through the passenger controll and had to say goodbye to everyone.. I felt awfully sad, so of course I cried and cried..

So here I am; Le cote d'azur; Nice! A week has passed by already, but it was a very hard one.. I missed (and still do) rome sooo much! Everything here is soo different: the school, the appartment, the students, the city, the people around me, the language, the food, etc..

i live know with a grandmother of almost 80 who likes to command and organize everything which for me is very hard to adapt to.. I share my little room with a japanese girl who doesn't speak to well french or english; so it's hard to communicate! The appartment itself is very old, dark and a little bit dirty as well.. so, I can't say I feel really great over there, but you get used to everything I suppose..

Normally I should stay here for 6 weeks, but for me that still seems like eternity, so I shortened my stay and in 3 weeks I'm leaving Nice. The chance that I return to ROme for some days to see manuel again is very big.. I do miss him here in Nice, eventhough we call every 2 days..

Fortunately, this weekend I won't be in Nice because I'm heading for Berlin to join the wedding of 1 of my dear friends from Newcastle! They are getting married in a little village around Berlin, and really, I can't wait to be there and celebrate together with them! This way I'll see some of my good friends from newcastle again!!! And just the fact that I'm invited for this wedding, makes me soo happy! On friday I leave, so WOOOHOOOO!!!

Well, I think I've updated you all again a bit better.. it was getting time, no???
so dear darling all over the world; be well, and soon we'll see eachother again!
Keep mailing me, it makes me everytime very happy!

Biggest hugs to you all! Miss you!
Sofie

    Shany:

    hi Sofia,

I just received your message and see your Roman adventure has finished. But what a finish!!
I hear also you miss Manuel a lot, and as much as I love you, I can only close this man in my heart. So, greetings to Manuel to.
And then I read your description of the room you have in Nice. Hilarious it is!!(allthough you probably don't think it is that funny).
I agree you shorten your stay, and come back to Belgium, at least during the Gentse Feesten!! Bring Manuel and stay at our place!! We can house a few coachhoppers during the cityfestival (let's say 2 at a time, max. 3).

And I have also a REQUEST TO THE ITALIAN PEOPLE,read Romans: In August me and my girlfriend will go to Athens, and we'll go via Rome. My question is: can we use the coach on the 13th of August?
Sofia, can you help by activating your network?

    greetings and hugs,

    Shany
