24 in Rome!!

Dear dear dear sweetie pies!!

Waauuuww.... what a birthday I had in Rome!! La festa è stata troppa bella!! Incredibile... Really, it moved me!

It all started already on saturday, eventhough my birthday is today (sunday). The whole afternoon we spend on making a HUGE chocolate-birthdaycake, and preparing the party that I planned for the evening! It took Valetina, my flatmate, and me more the 2 hours to finnish my birthdaycake! No wonder if you consider the fact that it exits of 4 layers of chocolate, and weighs more then 3 kilo I guess... we call it " THE BOMBA".

After we searched for a spot in the fridge that was big enough for our bomba, we started with preparing "the aperitivo". I invited a nice group of people over to our house for drinking and eating a bit, before going out for dinnner. Of course.. we run late, and some friends arrived already before I was ready! Reason? after preparing the aperitivo, Julia, my other flatmate, had straightened my hair, and had done my make-up, so oooooh dear.. Time was needed! the result was "a new-looking Sofie"! According to my friends I looked really good (but what else could they say of course ;-)

The aperitivo at our home started at 7 and was really nice! we were in total with 20, so the atmosphere was very alive! Especially because we were a mix of all kind of nationalities: My italian friends, Switzerland, France, Germany,Netherlands, Malta! Oh, how I enjoy this.. Everybody talking with everybody! Mi piace tantissimo!

Around 9pm we left the house go out for dinner at my favourite pizzeria: Gallo Rosso! And obviously we weren't the only ones.. after arriving by car and by bus, we had to queue for about one hour.. But we didn't give up and around 10.30pm they finally gave us a 2 tables. We started with amazing arrosticini, then bruschette, and at last of course: PIZZA!! this combined with a good glass of forst beer. Wonderfull!

After finishing all the food, there were only 20 minutes left to midnight.. so, all of a sudden, the countdown started, and exactly at midnight; all my friends started sining for me: Tanti auguri a te, tanti auguri a te, etc.... in the end: the whole restaurant was singing along! Then everybody shouted: "Discorso Discoros" or "nuda nuda".... Also the boss of the restaurant came by to give me a handkiss and to wish me all the best! After singing, the presents came.. although I already received some presents from my friends during the aperitivo. From Julia, Valerie, Marie, Erika, Remy, Valentina and benoit, I received a very sexy angel-lingerie set from Intimissimi, together with a very nice card and 2 great tartuffi (a tipical Italian dessert!) Very very funny! I immediately had to put on my angel-wings, but the string and the bra .. NO, that for later! ;-)

My dear Italian friends, Marco, Cesare, Daniele, Sara and Piedro gave me a very overwhelming present! A Bike!! I havn't seen it yet, but it should be a green mountainbike! How great this is, cuz I was already thinking of buying a second-handed one.. Always these overcrowded metro and bus, brrr, after a while you've have had it! Normally on friday I can go get it! so, next week, I'll be cycling to school!! Can't believe it!!

and like this wasn't enough, also the boss of the restaurant offered me a bottle of fragolino (a kind of strawberry champaign) and a VIP-t-shirt of his restaurant! After all the presents and singing, we ended our dinner with a shot of Limoncello!

After the dinner, some of my friends returned home, but some others accepted our invitation to come to our flat and eat some of the enourmous birthday-cake! so together with Benoit, Valerie, Marie, Remy, Valentina, Julia, Matteo, Alexandra and daniele, I blew out my 24 candles! We had another glass of wine, eated and chatted untill 4am.. we didn't go out to dance, which was a wise decision! The evening and night was soooooooo lovely!


This morning we all slept a bit longer (eventhough Valentina, Julia and Alexandra are having exams).. as breakfast we ate of course... Torta ;-), then we made some order in the house, took a shower and soon we'll go out for a walk in the city centre (today there are no cars allowed in the city centre). This evening we go out again for a drink at one of my favourite enoteca's and yes.... tomorrow it's again monday!! Can't believe it! This weekend really flew by!!


What a birthday I had!! Really Really Really! I was a bit moved by all the friends that came over to celebrate with me, by al the presents, by the atmosphere,... Really, It was almost too good to be true!! So, I would like to thank all my darlings who came over last night:

Daniele, Marco, Sara, Pietro, Cesare, Valentina, Julia, Alexandra, John, lize, Matteo, Steffi, Huei, Milouke sjoeke, hans, Benoit, Rémy, Valérie, Marie!! Vi amo!!

Of course of course of course I also want to say thank you to all of you for sending me all these nice birthday-wishes!! a litte card, sms, mail... it really makes my day!! Really!! So thanks darlings!!

Ookay, I'm going out now for my walk, and for a coffee! We'll hear eachother soon I may hope!! Biggest hug to you all!! and Keep on smiling!!
